Zoë Kuryakin was a Slayer born in December 1934 and who was activated in New York City. She was a first generation Russian Jew with black hair and slime figure. Her parents died in a car crash in 1949, shortly after her 15th birthday. After that she lived with her Watcher. She got a job as part-time waitress at the White Unicorn Cafe, in Greenwich Village. She enjoyed the poetry nights.

She was called approximately in 1950. She saved a knifesmith in the Bronx in 1951 and to thank her he made her a modified German Hubertus with a molded ebony grip, which she nicknamed Mack the Knife. She was due to face her Cruciamentum in December 1952. Her Watcher, Ian Sykes, a man so alienated from Zoë's beatnik lifestyle that he conspired with Creighton Faust, a vampire who was a Watcher in life, so she wouldn't survive to see her Cruciamentum. Faust sired the weakened Slayer, who in turn dusted Faust and then turned on her Watcher. Rather than face eternity as one of those she was meant to destroy, she walked out into the morning sunrise just as the last of her soul slipped away.

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The fact that she was sired contradicts what was known about Yuki Makimura, who was said to be the only Slayer erased of the Slayer line as she was the only who was sired (although the fact that she died before she could actually do anything as a vampire may mean that she was never erased, as the Council felt that they could consider her having died after an accident in the Cruciamentum).
