A Virtuous Knight slew Acathla after the demon came forth into the Earth, piercing Acathla's heart with his sword. Acathla turned into stone until he could be awakened again by "someone worthy," but the knight blessed a second sword in case the demon ever awoke again. In 1998, Buffy used the blessed sword to defeat Angel and sent Acathla back to dormancy.[1]
