Vampy Cat Play Friend is a short story of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight comic book series. It was written by Steven S. DeKnight and illustrated by Camilla d'Errico.


A young girl named Sachiko is being made fun of her size ans smell by three boys. As she leaves them, the girl meets a kindly old Oni demon, who gives her a Vampy Cat Play Friend doll as solace from the harassment. Although, while Sachiko is having a tea party with the doll, the three boys returns to make fun of her and her new toy.

This time, the Vampy Cat becomes enraged because they made Sachiko unhappy. The Vampy Cat makes them pay in a vicious attack, and the young boys’ pain and misery bring Sachiko joy. As she and the Vampy Cat doll embrace in victory, the doll bites Sachiko in the neck, explaining that it could not help itself since the girl is so sweet. Sachiko then declares her love for the doll.


  • The story is an advertisement for the Vampy Cat dolls, in production during Swell comic issue.
