Angelwings

An unidentified demon was a sorcerer capable of removing a soul for those who summoned him.[1]

Biography[]

This restores the balance between us, Rupert Giles. My debt to you is now repaid in full. Do not call upon me again.
―Unidentified sorcerer[src]

At some point, Rupert Giles introduced the demon to someone who would become the demon's wife. The demon would consider himself in debt with Giles for it.[1]

In 1999, Richard Wilkins summoned the demon with ritual chanting and sacrifice. He requested the demon to remove Angel's soul, and he agreed. Faith, the rogue Slayer at Wilkins' service, helped the demon perform the ritual by spilling unconsecrated blood on Angel's chest.[1]

However, the demon had warned Giles, and the ceremony was nothing more than a "light show" as part of a plot to mislead the Mayor and extract information from Faith, of whom Buffy Summers and Giles had become suspicious. With his aid, the demon considered the debt he owed Giles repaid in full. Before disappearing, the demon requested Giles not to summon him again, which the Watcher agreed.[1]

Powers and abilities[]

The demon sorcerer demonstrated the following abilities:

  • Teleportation — He could teleport from and to areas with little or no light.[1]
  • Telekinesis — He levitated Angel during the false ritual.[1]
  • Photokinesis — He also created a "light show" for the false ritual.[1]
  • Soul removal — As Wilkins summoned him for that purpose, the demon was likely capable of removing souls from individuals.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

  • He was portrayed by Gary Bullock.
  • Unidentified in the series, he was credited simply as "Sorcerer."
  • His clothing and appearance are notably similar to the members of the Cahair Binse, seen in the episode "Judgment."
