The Ugly Man was a magical construct manifested from Billy Palmer's nightmares after his Kiddie League coach had beaten him into a coma. The creature hunted Billy to kill him, calling for "Lucky Nineteen."[1]
The Ugly Man resembled a tall, hulking figure in dark clothing, with a bald head and deformed, scarred face. It had a fleshy club in place of one of its hands, which he used to attack Laura Egler in the Sunnydale High School boiler room.[1]
The Ugly Man possessed enough strength and durability to overpower Buffy Summers. However, when she was turned into a Slaypire — a Slayer turned into a vampire as part of her own nightmare coming true — Buffy gained the upper hand. She broke the creature's arm and threw him against the wall.[1]
As the Ugly Man lay unconscious on the floor, Billy removed the creature's face and woke up from the coma. As soon as the coach arrived in the hospital and called Billy "Lucky Nineteen," the Scooby Gang understood he had beaten Billy and took him to the police.[1]
