Built by the mental patients and Glory's Minions, the crude construct was used to suspend Dawn at a height so that her blood could safely open the portal. It's appearance and unstable nature was due to the fact that it appeared to have been built in a matter of hours, in between the events of 'Spiral' and 'The Gift.'
