"The Wanton Folly of Me Mum" was a poem Spike recited in an open mic poetry slam at McTarnan's in 2004, following the audience's approval of his poem "My soul is wrapped in harsh repose."[1]
The title alludes to when Spike sired his mother Anne Pratt in 1880 so she would become immortal like him. However, she found her son's devotion smothering and taunted him with the notion of him having a sexual desire for her. She attempted to seduce him, but Spike's forceful rejection caused her to try to stake him. In the resulting fight, Spike dusted his mother. He only overcame the trauma in 2003, when he revived the experience with a Prokaryote stone.[2]
