The Death of Buffy, Part One is the forty-third issue of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer Classic" series. It was written by Tom Fassbender and Jim Pascoe and illustrated by Cliff Richards.
Synopsis
Buffy is dead. There's lots of emotions and tensions. The Scoobies begin to pick up the pieces, and they soon realize that Sunnydale is losing control of its population of nasties. Willow takes action, and it looks like the gang has a new leader. But how long can the group hold out after a pack of disgruntled lizard-demons arrives in Sunnydale gunning for the Slayer?[1]

- According to editor Scott Allie, when he saw in this issue's script that Dawn's principal was named Mr. Richardson, he asked artist Cliff Richards to base his likeness from Mike Richardson, Dark Horse Comics founder.[3]
