Teleportation spell was a spell that could teleport a target or oneself to a different location.[1]

History[]

Willow and Tara used a teleportation spell against Glory in 2001. It involved silent chanting and sprinkling a magical dust on the target, and it was activated when the caster clapped their hands and said the word "discede" (Latin for "disperse"). As a result, Glory was teleported into midair, though she survived the fall due to her status as a hell-goddess.[1]

While she was a dark witch, Willow used a variation of this spell to teleport herself, Buffy, and Dawn from Rack's residence to the Magic Box.[2]

Willow used a variation of this spell to teleport a giant Dawn right into the main streets of Tokyo to fight against Toru's forces.[3]

Willow got Andrew to locate the Kenny by pretending to be a college student looking to become his dorm roommate. Andrew placed Yoda totems inside the Thricewise's dorm, creating a teleportation grid which allowed Willow to teleport herself and several Slayers into his room by chanting "erehavoteg" ("get ova here" backwards).[4]

On the run from the mask Twilight, Buffy had Willow cast one final spell to teleport a whole submarine containing members of the Slayer Organization from the ocean to a Tibetan monastery.[5]

Usage and side-effects[]

As proven by Willow and subsequently explained by Giles, teleportation spells can be extremely dangerous to witches who have not reached a certain advanced level in the magical arts.[1] When Willow first used it, it caused her a nasal hemorrhage and headaches that lasted for over a week.[6] She also revealed that she had no control over where Glory was teleported, which further proved she lacked complete mastery over the spell.[1]

However, when Willow had become a supremely powerful witch, she was shown to be able to use teleportation spells without suffering any visible side-effects.[2][3][4][5]
