"Sweeps Week" is an episode of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Roleplaying Game book series. Written by C.J. Carella, it was originally published on August 15, 2002, by Eden Studios.

Summary[]

Sean Lowell runs through the hallways of Sunnydale High School. He screams for help, but the school is empty tonight. Exhausted, Sean falls to the floor and his pursuer reaches him. Sean tells her she can't be there because she's not real. She raises her sword and kills the boy.

The next morning, Julius Desmond runs into Brian White, dislodging some of his books. The Junior Varsity football players Brian, Donny Ferrelli, and Diego Valdez torment Julius by making him repeatedly pick the books from the floor. Later, Brian screams when he opens his locker and sees a headless body inside. Diego joins in the screaming when he finds in his locker the missing head of their friend, Sean. School is canceled for the day.

That night, Brian, Donny, and Diego attend the Bronze. Donny gets some booze with a fake ID, and the three leave to drink in the alley behind the club. Three pale girls dancing together move to follow them. Julius Desmond and Keith Dick pass by the three bullies, who pick on them. The vampires arrive ready to feed, and the boys start running. Soon after, Donny staggers back into the alley and falls dead.

The next morning, a moment of silence is taken in remembrance of Donny. Brian, Diego, Julius, and Keith survived the event, but they all look nervous. Later, Brian and Diego barricade themselves in Diego's house. The TV suddenly dies, and the boys are surprised to see Dara of Neos Atlantis, a TV character from Dara, Barbarian Queen, in the living room. She pulls out her twin axes and moves to kill Brian and Diego.

Elsewhere, another TV character, Finn O'Cool from Eternal Gael, moves to kill Julius. Keith's father dies at the hands of one of the magical constructs.

In an abandoned TV station, Keith plays with the remote and summons C-2000 from Cyborg Defender. He also intends to summon Gadjeera from a Japanese monster movie that will begin shortly.

Once Keith himself is defeated, his body disappears and reappears on a TV monitor. He slams on the inside of the screen, trying to get out. The image of the host Peter Soybel appears on Who Wants to Spin the Wheel of Jeopardy? and announces a parting gift for Keith: a fiery pit in hell. A huge fiery hand takes Keith away, who disappears shrieking. Soybel says: "See you again real soon," and his eyes flash red. The TV set explodes.

Later, Donna Taylor tries to read Teenage Girl on her bed while crying for the death of her boyfriend Sean. Suddenly, the pages of the magazine flip on their own accord, and the young pop singer Ethan Grey looks at Donna from the page. She watches as his smile gets wider, his eyes turn red, and he winks at her.

Continuity[]

  • While the story does not necessarily take place in the main timeline, it would take place any time before the Sunnydale High School destruction in "Graduation Day, Part Two."
  • A possible lair for the Chicas is CRD, the firm seen in the episode "I Robot, You Jane."
  • Peter Epstein has checked out a lot of books on witchcraft from the library to look at the naked pictures just like Xander did in the episode "Witch."
  • Gadjeera is described as "a giant lizard that could make the Mayor look like a hookworm," comparing to Wilkins' transformation into Olvikan in "Graduation Day, Part Two."

  • There Mark of the Djinn is unnoticed if the bearer wears a glove, which can explained if the person is "in a Michael Jackson phase," referring to the artist's iconic wardrobe.
