Spotlight Illyria-00a Spotlight: Illyria 1 May 31, 2006
Writer: Peter David Artist: Nicola Scott
First up, Peter David (Spike: Old Times) and Nicola Scott focus on Illyria-a goddess without worshippers, existing in a world not her own, surrounded by humans whose emotions she is trying to comprehend. And her greatest sin was the means by which she arrived here in the first place: she destroyed Winnifred Burkle's body and soul in order to use it as her own vessel to exist. Now witness Illyria as she tries to find a personal touchstone by which she can at least understand the human-she returns to the remnants of Fred's old life to try and make herself feel guilty over having destroyed Fred's very existence.
Spotlight Gunn-03a Spotlight: Gunn 2 May 31, 2006
Writer: Dan Jolley Artist: Mark Pennington
The City of Angels can be a gateway to dreams… or the entrance to Hell itself. When Gunn's starry-eyed cousin from Ohio runs away from home and winds up in L.A., it's up to Gunn to find him and get him to safety before the city literally chews him up and spits him out.
Spotlight Wesley-03a Spotlight: Wesley 3 June 7, 2006
Writer: Scott Tipton Artist: Mike Norton
It's just another day at the office at Wolfram & Hart, which usually means only one thing: every man for himself! When a most lethal legal maneuver strikes down one of the associates, Wesley realizes that the path to Fred's affections might once more be clear — but can he live with the ramifications? And advice from Spike, of all people, probably isn't helping matters…
Spotlight Doyle-03a Spotlight: Doyle 4 July 26, 2006
Writer: Jeff Mariotte Artist: David Messina
Before Angel hit L.A., there were plenty of demons around. One of them was named Doyle, a half-human, half-Brachen demon with personal problems galore. When Angel gets to town, Doyle is entrusted by The-Powers-That-Be with guiding his quest for atonement-but with difficulties of his own to atone for, what made TPTB think he was the right, er… half-man for the job?
Spotlight Connor-03a Spotlight: Connor 5 August 16, 2006
Writer: Jay Faerber Artist: Bob Gill
While working on a genealogy project for one of his college classes, Connor — the son of Angel — becomes increasingly torn between his conflicting sets of memories. What is his true nature? Is he the average son of a normal couple? Or is he the super-powered offspring of a pair of vampires? And what does this have to do with vigilante that’s killing suspected criminals all over town?
