"Spike and Dru: Who Made Who?" is a short story of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Classic comic book series. Written by Christopher Golden and illustrated by Eric Powell, it was originally published on February 7, 2001, by Dark Horse Comics.

Synopsis[]

Spike and Dru find out that breaking up really is hard to do.[1]

Summary[]

Spike and Drusilla recently got back together and are enjoying Carnival in Brazil. One night, Spike comes home to yet again find Drusilla in bed with a fungus demon. He walks out on her while remembering that she also cheated on him with Angel back in Sunnydale. He tried to torture Drusilla into loving him again, but it had not held up long. Alone, Spike wanders into a bar, where he talks to a demon patron. Spike knows that demon slept with Drusilla too, so Spike sets him on fire.

Meanwhile, Drusilla picked up another man to bring to her home, but, just as she is walking toward the door, the apartment explodes. Drusilla knows it was Spike. So she goes the mansion of her friend Oliveira, but finds the massacre of humans and demons inside. It was Spike, and he is there to ask her why she doesn't love him anymore. Drusilla explains it was in the nature of vampires to abandon others, as Angel did with her. Spike wants to know why then she sired him, and she says as a playmate, which she wanted him to still be. He rejects her, wanting her for himself or not at all.

Spike walks outside, where he is greeted by an angry mob, whom he was told that there was a vampire inside. As the mob storms the mansion with Drusilla inside, Spike drives away.

Continuity[]

The events take place in February 1999, after Spike leaves Sunnydale to go after Drusilla in "Lovers Walk" and before his return without her in "The Harsh Light of Day."
