The Slayer Handbook, also known as Vampyr due to the word engraved on its cover, was the title of a large leather bound tome owned by Rupert Giles. Giles presented it to Buffy Summers when she first arrived in Sunnydale. After his death, Giles left the book to Buffy.
Sam Zabuto, the Watcher of Kendra Young also owned a copy.
Behind the Scenes
- The book was seen a couple of times in the first season but was never actually used or seen again later, despite remaining in the opening titles.
- A box version of this book was part of the Buffy merchandise.
- The book has the word "vampire" spelled in its old spelling "Vampyr" as it is supposed to be a very old book.
- On the Q&A SlayAlive forum for BTVS Season 8 #40, Scott Allie confirmed that the Vampyr book and the Slayer Handbook were one and the same.[1]
