Sea-maiden referred to mystical creatures of Celtic origin classified as Kleptes-Virgo. As such, they preyed on virgins and assumed the form of a beautiful woman to lure their victims into their nests. Sea-maidens were particularly known for being capable of tearing the living flesh from human bones.[1]
