The Scourge was an army of self-proclaimed pure-blooded demons bent on the extermination of every "half-breed" race on Earth, as well as that of half-demons and humanity itself.[1]
A cell in Los Angeles under Tiernan's command was composed of demons of an unidentified species,[1] the same that enslaved humans to work in another dimension.[2]
History[]
In 1999, the Scourge sought to eliminate a group of Listers currently hiding in Los Angeles. They intended to test on the Listers their latest weapon, the Beacon: a device that emitted a light that destroyed anything with human blood that it came in contact with.[1]
Angel Investigations attempted to sabotage their attempts by having Angel infiltrate the group, and the Scourge accepted his claiming to loathe his "half-breed" status as a vampire. Meanwhile, the AI team helped the Listers escape on a cargo ship, but the Scourge got the Beacon on board. The half-demon Doyle sacrificed himself to deactivate it, saving the Lister demons.[1]
