This article is about the Angel episode, for the video game see "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sacrifice".

"Sacrifice" is the twentieth episode of the fourth season of Angel and the eighty-sixth episode overall. Written by Ben Edlund and directed by David Straiton, it was originally broadcast on April 23, 2003 on the WB network.

Synopsis

With Fred's help, Angel and the rest of the group, sans Connor, finally break free of Jasmine's mind-control power and seek shelter in the sewers beneath the city. There they encounter a group of teenage warriors, in hiding since the sun went black, as well as a demon which Wesley figures out was a previous worshiper of Jasmine. Meanwhile, Connor, still under Jasmine's power, goes out looking for the gang while he also tries to find a still-comatose Cordelia after Jasmine has her moved to a secret location away from the hotel.

Continuity

  • When Fred and Gunn argue in the sewer, Fred says she would take being remorseful for her involvement in Professor Seidel's death over "being a shell any day". This foreshadows her becoming the shell Illyria inhabits in the following season.

Body Count

  • Three men and two women, eaten by Jasmine
  • Thomas Golden, eaten by a Zealot
  • a vampire, eviscered by a Zealot
  • a Zealot demon, killed by Angel

Quotes

Jasmine: "We have nothing to fear from them. They are alone; we are many."
Connor: "But, but Gunn and Wesley and Lorne. They've all been turned. We have to stop whatever they're ..."
Jasmine: "We will. Connor, there's nothing they can do. Every moment that passes, I grow closer to my followers. I feel what they feel. I see what they see. We're fusing together, like the cells of a single body. They're my eyes, my skin, my limbs; and if need be, my fists."
Jasmine: "You can't outrun my love. It has wings made of radio."
