Robert had been sired three days before his rise as a vampire. He was found in Los Angeles by the canal, with extensive tissue damage at his neck and shoulders from the bite, which was officially attributed to a dog attack. Dying at 17 years old, his tombstone carried the message: “God is at his heels”.
Merrick identified his obituary and led Buffy to Robert’s grave, when the vampire suddenly rose. The Slayer struggled with the battle as a female vampire rose nearby, so he attacked Merrick and almost bite him. Buffy staked Robert, initially missing his heart, but then successfully making him the fist vampire she dusted.
Behind the scenesEdit
- He was portrayed by Paul M. Lane in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer film, and by an uncredited actor in "Becoming, Part One".
- Despite taking place in 1996 and Robert described as having died three days earlier, both stories The Origin, Part One and The First Time incorrectly display his tombstone with the dates 1972–1990.
- In the non-canon short story The First Time, Buffy researches online about Robert’s life and discovers he was a freshman at UCLA, a big X-Files fan, a film student, a little awkward with girls, didn't have too many friends, and had a younger sister who won a science contest.
