Raymond Berris was a doctor in a mental hospital in 2002, according to the illusory world in which Buffy Summers was his patient.

Buffy had a glimpse of this magically constructed illusion when she was stabbed by a skewer from a Glarghk Guhl Kashmas'nik demon, who was summoned by the Trio against her. The injected venom gave her recurring visions of being a patient in a mental hospital in Los Angeles, with her being the Slayer in Sunnydale as just a delusion.[1]

In this world, Dr. Berris theorized that her sister Dawn's sudden creation was the result of Buffy needing a familial bond after Joyce's death within her supposed delusion, but the fantasy she had created was then no longer as satisfying to her as it once was, hence the inadequacy of the Trio compared to previous villains and her visions of the reality of the asylum. Along with her parents, the illusory counterparts of Joyce and Hank Summers, Dr. Berris attempted to convince Buffy to return from her supposed delusion, without success.[1]
