- “I live. You die.”

Biography[edit | edit source]
- “Do you like my mask? Isn't it pretty? It raises the dead!”
- ―Rupert Giles imitating Joyce Summers[src]
Ovu Mobani's spirit was contained within a Nigerian mask that Joyce Summers imported from Africa for an art exhibit. Unbeknownst to her, the mask caused all the dead in an ever increasing area, to become zombies and race towards the mask, killing every living creature they encountered, thus increasing the number of racing zombies. Within hours all the dead in Sunnydale had been raised as zombies.
The zombie that got the mask first was Pat, a friend of Joyce who had been killed by a zombie attacking the Summers house. After Pat put on the mask, she became the vessel for Ovu Mobani's spirit. Mobani faced Buffy Summers, the Slayer in a short fight until she understood the source of his powers and his weakness. Thanks to a timely distraction from Oz, Buffy managed to impale Mobani's eyes with a shovel, destroying him and all of his zombies.
Powers[edit | edit source]
Reanimation: While trapped within the mask, Ovu Mobani had the power to raise any dead creature as a zombie within a certain radius of influence and attracting them. The zombies remained after he took control of his vessel and would be destroyed with him.
Photokinesis: Once Ovu Mobani had incarnated in a body, he could emit a paralyzing, blinding flash of light from his eyes, which he used to paralyze his enemies in battle. The person had to see the light for it to work as Buffy was able to avoid this by covering her eyes. However, if he gets distracted and turns on another person, the person he just paralyzed will be set free of the spell.
Possession: Ovu Mobani could manually take control over the body of anyone it wore his mask.
Superhuman Strength: When possessing somebody, Ovu Mobani granted their body greater physical strength than an average human as he sent Buffy flying with a single strike of his host's hand.
