The dimension of Oden Tal was populated by a humanoid species of demons. They were organized in a monarchic society in which males, known as Vigories, had all the power, while females lived in servitude.[1]
Female biology[]

The females of the species had a row of raised ridges on either cheek. They also had ridges on their back, called the ko, which was the nexus for the personality and passions of the demon.[1]
When the females first came of age, the ko charged them with energy, which manifested as heat and intense strength. At first, they couldn't control this power and needed to be cooled constantly. With practice and time, they could use their power at will. The ko also signaled by glowing with heat when they were aroused and had met desirable mates.[1]

Oden Tal males were addressed as Vigories. They lacked the raised ridges on their cheeks but had a line of four vertical ridges on their foreheads. Apparently, they also had ridges down their back and ko, but no power stemmed from it.[1]
Inter-gender relationships[]
To make the female demons submissive and easily controlled, part of their ko was removed in a painful process that subdued their personality. Afterward, the female showed no independent will and total submissiveness. Females were not given names, considered property, and referred to only as "it."[1]
