"Note from the Underground" is the fifteenth volume of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Classic trade paperbacks, collecting issues forty-seven to fifty of the comic book series.

This volume collects Buffy newcomer Scott Lobdell's (X-men, Highroads) debut story arc along side veteran Buffy scribe Fabian Nicieza! Joining established Buffy artist Cliff Richards, Lobdell and Nicieza begin their run by wrapping up four years worth of stories, featuring many returning faces. This story paves the way for a whole new direction for the Buffy comics.[1]

Behind the Scenes

  • The title is a reference to the novella Notes from the Underground (1864).
  • According to editor Scott Allie, "Scott Lobdell pitched me a story that I liked, and once the idea was approved by our contact at Fox a first script was written called 'Note from the Underground'. But then Lobdell heard something through the grapevine – apparently Joss [Whedon]'s plans for Season Seaven were very similar to 'Note from the Underground". I got a hold of Joss, gave him a quick rundown of the story, and he said, 'Yeah, you probably shouldn't do that'. We had to come up with another story. So the story in this book is 'Note from the Underground' Take Two, and the mad scramble to complete the story led to the decision to follow it up by jumping out of continuity and throwing the series back to just before Buffy moved to Sunnydale, which is why there's no Season Seven stories."[2]
