Mummy was a preserved corpse that could be reanimated into an undead being.[1]

History[]

In the 15th, the Inca Princess was sacrificed and mummified with a cursed seal that made sure that she would not awake. She eventually became part of the Inca Princess exhibit, touring places like Boston, Atlanta, New York, and Sunnydale, while still aware of her surroundings.[1]

In 1997, Rodney Munson damaged the Inca Princess's seal, awakening her. She was able to keep a healthy human appearance by absorbing the life force out of others, killing and leaving them in a mummified appearance instead; such was the case of Rodney, Ampata Gutierrez, and the Bodyguard. The Princess and Xander fell in love, but, when she attempted to kill Willow, Xander told her that she would have to drain him before he would let her near his friend. The Princess agreed to his ultimatum, but eventually could not drain him; her deprivation caused her to revert back into her mummified state, and her corpse shattered to pieces when it fell on the floor.[1]

In 2001, the Magic Box held Ancient Mummy Hand as an item for sale. A costumer wished to acquire it for a prosperity spell, but the hand turned out very difficult for Buffy to recover from the shop's basement because of its aggressive nature.[2]

In 2004, Fred initially supposed that Illyria's sarcophagus contained a mummy; Knox then told her that mummies could be "a lot more trouble" than she thought. Spike said that he had fought "plenty" of mummies in the past, and "almost none" of them were as pretty as Fred.[3]
