Michael Gershman was a cinematographer and director, as well as the director of photography for the majority of Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes.
He earned an Emmy Award nomination as “Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Series” for his work in episode "Hush".[1]
Upon Gershman’s death, series creator Joss Whedon addressed: “TV fantasy was all fisheye lenses and purple gels. With a budget of zero dollars DP [director of photography] (later director) MICHAEL GERSHMAN made Buffy look grown up and gorgeous. It helped define the show more than people know. Great guy, great eye. R.I.P.”[2]
