A memory spell was a spell of mind manipulation that mystically returned memories to the target individual that been previously lost. If any adverse effects took place, they could be reversed by consuming a minor taste of the ingredients within the bottle used in the spell.[1]
History[]
Lorne procured the memory spell and ingredients from a semi-corporeal female wraith to return what he believed was Cordelia's memory, as she had returned a higher plane suffering from complete amnesia. However, when the Angel Investigations team attempted to perform the spell to restore Cordelia's memory, the disorientation from the ritual resulted in Cordelia breaking the bottle.[1]
Cordelia, Angel, Wesley, Gunn, and Fred reverted to their memories when they were all around sixteen years old; Lorne was also present, but he was rendered unconscious for a time and all his memories were intact. Once Lorne woke up, he was able to convince the team to trust him to complete the ritual, which restored their complete memories. However, the attempt to restore Cordelia only succeeded in awakening Jasmine's consciousness from withing her.[1]

Close friends/acquaintances of the target individual gathered, sitting in a circle around a painted symbol. Each should be holding a lit candle with another lit candle before each of them. They would focus on a ceramic bottle while the incantation was recited (native):[1]
- "We come in supplication and hope. Bring [them] back."
