- “Our jaguar legion. Thirty-six warriors strong, as the prophesy requires. When the end of days comes, they will be ready to fight all those that oppose us.”
- “A Mayan Jaguar Warrior. I haven't seen one of these since... since Mayan civilization collapsed a millenium ago.”
The transformation of jaguars into human warriors orignated in Mayan civilization over one thousand years ago. However, in the 20th century, a group of priests re-enacted the rituals to create an army to defend themselves during the prophecised "end of days". The rituals were performed on jaguar cubs, and one from each litter would always die. Among these warriors were sisters Desdemona and Penelope, who escaped the priests and travelled to Los Angeles. Penelope disappeared, while Dez went on to become an ally of Angel Investigations.
Behind the ScenesEdit
- Although identified as Mayan, historically associating military units or ranks with animals was a practice of the Aztecs and the people of Teotihuacan, not the Mayans.
