Biography[edit | edit source]
Buffy Summers first encountered Matereani in the Sunnydale Cemetery, where he reanimated several decayed corpses to slow Buffy down while Scylla escaped with Willow Rosenberg and other captives from The Bronze. Although Buffy was able to rescue Willow, Scylla got away with several captives including a Sunnydale Razorback tight-end. In the sunken church where the Master had been imprisoned for so long, Matereani used the remaining captives' life force and his Tedarka Talisman in a ritual to bring back the spirit of the Master. Buffy was too late to save the captives but was able to destroy Matereani by beating him to death. With his dying breath, Matereani finished the ritual and his body dissipated. Buffy retrieved the Tedarka Talisman and faced the Master's phantom. The Master was later given corporeal form and destroyed again by Buffy.
Powers and abilities[edit | edit source]
He was also able to levitate and possessed sufficient strength and combat experience to hold his own against Buffy in a fight.
Behind the Scenes[edit | edit source]
- Matereani was cloaked from head to toe and shrouded in mist.
- Even though he doesn't appear in the game, his model is used for a generic demon enemy in Chaos Bleeds and can be unlocked as a playable character.
