The Mark of Kakistos was a mystical symbol worn by the maenads by order of Kakistos, also known as the Father. A mark of their servitude, the symbol allowed Kakistos to track those branded with it.

While possessed by the spirit of Artemia, Faith was tattooed with the mark, thus ensuring a confrontation with the Father. She eventually defeated Kakistos but continued to bear the tattoo on her arm.

Behind the scenes

• While Faith canonically bore the tattoo, its meaning and context are only explored in the non-canon novel Go Ask Malice.
• The tattoo is visibly missing from Faith's arm in stories such as "This Year's Girl," "Graduation Day, Part One," Retreat, Part Three, In Perfect Harmony, United, Part One, A Tale of Two Families, Part Two, and Crimes Against Nature.
