The Maclay family was a conservative family led by their patriarch, Mr. Maclay.[1]
History[]
Tara Maclay was born to Mr. and Mrs. Maclay on October 16, 1980,[2] and her mother died seventeen years later.[3] Both Tara and her mother practiced witchcraft,[4] something their family disapproved of. Her father deceived Tara, claiming she was part demon — like all the women in their family — and that her demonic nature would manifest on her 20th birthday.[1]
Tara eventually moved to Sunnydale to attend UC Sunnydale. In 2000, her father, brother Donny, and cousin Beth arrived at the Magic Box intending to take her home. When Tara resisted, the Scooby Gang intervened, declaring that while the Maclays were her blood relatives, her friends were her true family. The Maclay legend was disproven when Spike punched Tara, activating his chip and confirming that she was fully human.[1]
