The Elder Woman was one of leaders of Kalderash by the late 1990's. She and Enyos had sent Janna Kalderash to Sunnydale in 1997 to watch over the vampire Angel in order to ensure he kept suffering for the death of a girl in 1898. In 1998, she sensed that Angel's pain was lessening and sent Enyos to investigate.
