Julie Benz is an American actress who is best known for playing Darla in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where she was the first character seen on-screen and spoke the first line. Benz later reprised her role in the spin-off series of Angel. She is also known for playing Rita Bennett on Dexter.
Behind the Scenes
- Benz auditioned for the title role of Buffy Summers (something that Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia Chase), Elizabeth Anne Allen (Amy Madison), Julia Lee (Anne Steele), and Mercedes McNab (Harmony Kendall) also did) before it went to Sarah Michelle Gellar.
- Benz had to overcome her fear of singing in public for "The Trial".
- Julie's debut role was in the horror collaboration Two Evil Eyes by Dario Argento and George Romero. Julie played a small role as musical student.
