Jin Hansu was the creator of the puppet character Dicky Duck, star of a popular Japanese children's show.[1]
Biography[]
When a band of puppet demons launched a Japanese edition of Smile Time, they intended to use the popularity of Dicky Duck as part of their plan to feast on the souls of children (and "lonely adult males") all over the world.[2] Their first step was an attack on Jin Hansu from a party of puppet ninjas,[3] resulting in Hansu's disappearance.[1]
One year later, a revival concert had been arranged for Dicky Duck at Tokyo University Park. Leading the fight against the Smile Time puppets, Spike attempted to warn Hansu of their plan to use his character. However, upon a backstage confrontation, Spike learned that Hansu's body was present only as a puppet.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- Although the character's name is spelled out as "Gin Hansu" in a dialogue bubble by Trots from Plush (page 10) and as "Jin Hansu" in a speech bubble by Tok Shinobu from Two to Sew (page 18), a box addressed to the man uses the "Jin" spelling in Once More, with Felt.
- According to commentary from writer Brian Lynch, Jin Hansu is a reference to the creator of The Muppets, Jim Henson.[4]
