J. August Richards is an American actor who portrayed Charles Gunn on Angel. He was born Jaime Augusto Richards III, but changed his name at 14 since no one outside his family could pronounce it. He also goes by the nickname "Jay". He also co-starred with Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Eric Balfour in the Dick Wolf series Conviction.

Recently, J. August Richards portrays Deathlok in the Marvel tv-show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
