"Is This What I Wanted" is a short story of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2019) comic book series. Written by Danny Lore and illustrated by Marianna Ignazzi, it was originally published on March 30, 2022 by Boom! Studios.

- This story takes place during the summer of 1999, between the Class of '99 graduation in "Graduation Day, Part Two" and Xander's return to Sunnydale in "The Freshman."
- Xander mentions having dealt with inferiority issues in an event that involved a bomb and zombies, referring to when he secretly saved his friends from a group of zombies planting a bomb in "The Zeppo."
- Xander's car breaks outside Sunnydale; upon his return in "The Freshman," he tells Buffy he got as far as Oxnard and the engine fell out of his car, so he ended up washing dishes at the Ladies Night club for about a month and a half while he tried to pay for the repairs.
