The Inca Princess was a girl who become a mummy in the 15th century. Accidentally released in 1997, she then assumed the identity of the Peruvian exchange student Ampata Gutierrez.[1]

The girl lived in the 15th century in eastern Peru, where she was chosen as a princess by the Inca people at the age of sixteen. She was told she was the only one who could defend her people from the netherworld, so she was sacrificed for the mountain god Sebancaya and mummified with a cursed seal that made sure that she would not awake.[1]
She eventually became part of the Inca Princess exhibit, touring places like Boston, Atlanta, and New York, while still aware of her surroundings.[1]
Reawakened
Five hundred years after her death, on tour to the Sunnydale Natural History Museum, the mummy was accidentally awoken by a Sunnydale High School student, Rodney Munson, when he damaged the sacred seal keeping her dormant.
