Harken all ye elements, I summon thee now. Control the outside, control within. Land and sea, fire and wind. Out of my passions, a web be spun. From this eve forth, my will be done. So mote it be.
Willow Rosenberg[src]

"I will it so" was a spell designed to manifest the caster's desires into reality simply by speaking them aloud. It required a circle of candles, various ingredients, and an incantation.[1]

History[]

Willow Rosenberg used the "I will it so" spell in an effort to get over her breakup with Daniel "Oz" Osbourne. However, the spell unexpectedly backfired when it activated only in response to her cynical remarks. Its effects included:[1]

  • temporarily blinding Rupert Giles when Willow complained that he "didn't see anything";
  • teleporting Spike just outside the Stevenson Hall when Willow argued that Spike was "probably just standing out there" and Buffy "could find him in two seconds";
  • causing Buffy and Spike to act like lovers and become engaged after Willow sarcastically suggested they should get married;
  • causing numerous demons to attack Alexander "Xander" Harris after she referred to him as a "demon magnet" due to his dating history.

The lower being D'Hoffryn, impressed by the chaos caused by Willow's spell, teleported her to his dimension in an attempt to recruit her as a vengeance demon. Willow refused, requesting only to help her friends who were being ambushed by demons. Instead, D'Hoffryn provided her with a talisman to summon him if she ever changed her mind.[1]

To undo its effects, Willow used a reversal spell that declared "my will be safe."[1]
