- “It's a type of demon foot soldier, bred during the Mahkash Wars. Trained solely to kill, they feed on the brains of their foes.”
- ―Rupert Giles[src]
Hell Hounds, also spelled Hellhounds, were a species of canine-like demon. They were employed as foot soldiers and feed exclusively on brains.
In 1999, Tucker Wells raised four hell hounds in order to massacre Sunnydale High's Class of '99 after he was rejected by a girl he asked to the Prom. He brainwashed them by showing them various prom-related films, forcing them into going berserk at the sight of formal wear and mirror balls.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Like most demons, hell hounds had super strength and agility. Individually, they were weaker than other demons, although when in a pack, they could wreak sufficient carnage. Their primary weapons were their claws.
Weaknesses[edit | edit source]
Hell hounds were relatively easy to kill. Buffy killed one with just a single well-placed arrow fired from a crossbow.
Behind the Scenes[edit | edit source]
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the game) featured a similar species of demon also named "Hell Hounds". These demons were a lot more animalistic and had features more alike actual canines, sporting longer pointed snouts and even howling like wolves during battle.
