Hamelin demon was a species of symbiotic demons, who trapped its victims in their dimension with illusions based on the individual childhood’s dream. They had the appearance of an agglomerate of eyes with long tentacles.

History

A Hamelin demon infested a building in Tenderloin, San Francisco. It targeted children on the verge of losing their childhood, making 25 human children disappear in three decades. The sound of those trapped scared out the residents’ building, so the landlord contacted S.F.P.D. detective Robert Dowling to solve the case.

The Scooby Gang then went to exorcise what they believed to be a haunting, but the demon attacked and trapped them in its dimension, with a collective illusion based on their respective childhood’s dreams. Despite temporally modifying their memories, they were able to free themselves, as well as the missing children, by refusing the reality the demon created. Although, as each Scooby began to demonstrate mistrust of this reality, the Hamelin would transform those fantasied (notably parents) in amorphous purple creatures who attacked them.[1]

Behind the scenes

  • Hamelin’s name is based on the tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, which notably ends with the piper attracting children away from the town.
