Ground State

Template:Angelepisode Ground State is episode 2 of season 4 of the television show Angel, and is the 68th episode overall. Written by Mere Smith and directed by Michael Grossman, it was originally broadcast on October 13, 2002 on the WB network. It introduces the character Gwen Raiden, a thief with electric powers, portrayed by Alexa Davalos.

Synopsis

Angel's search for Cordelia takes him to Wesley, now a hardened demon-hunter/killer with his own gang, who directs Angel to a demigod, named Dinza, who tells Angel to look for Cordelia's path in a mysterious axis talisman. However, Angel's path soon crosses with a young mystical woman and mercenary thief, named Gwen Raiden, whom possesses the uncontrollable power of electrokinesis: projecting electric pulses to a living person by mere touch. Gwen is also looking for the talisman at the request of her employer, a wealthy and powerful businessman, named Elliott, with connections to Wolfram & Hart, to use the axis for personal gain.

• Angel mentions that he has done "a heist like this" twice before. This is possibly referring to "The Shroud of Rahmon" and the Buffy episode "Choices".
