A Catholic mission was located in the town of Gilroy.[1]
History[]
In 1999, a group of avenging spirits of Chumash warriors attacked Father Gabriel, hanging him at the mission. Buffy Summers arrived after the priest had been already killed.[2]
In 2003, the mission was attacked by Caleb, leaving a priest as the sole survivor among its five residents. Spike and Andrew Wells later visited the site to investigate, where the priest showed them a secret room that Caleb had revealed to him. Inside was an inscription that had enraged Caleb: "Non tibi est. Ei solae tractare licet", Latin for "It is not for thee. It is for her alone to wield."[1]
The inscription referred to the mystical weapon mʔ, destined to be wielded by the Slayer,[3] which Buffy later used to defeat Caleb and the First Evil.[4]
