- “You can't get into my mind. It's like the mirror; the thoughts are there, but they cast no reflection in you.”
- ―Angel[src]
Immunity was the impervious nature a being could have to a power,[1][2] object,[3] or effect[4] that generally affected others.
Examples[]
Vampires[]
Vampires' minds were like their reflection in a mirror; thus, they were immune to telepathic probing.[1] However, more powerful telepaths, such as Splenden beasts, could bypass this.[5]
Due to their undead bodies, vampires did not generate life force; a root monster tried to drain life force from Angel, and killed itself in the process.[6] Non was also unable to drain life energy from Spike.[7]
Unlike humans, vampires were immune to Glory's ability to absorb sanity.[8]
As a vampire, Spike was immune to the mystical shroud that prevented humans from discovering that Glory and Ben were one and the same.[4]
All new vampires sired following the creation of a second Seed of Wonder were immune to sunlight and possessed greater resistance to staking.[9]
Demons[]
Anya claimed that vengeance demons were immune to mind control, though Willow was able to control her into breaking Giles' binding spell.[10]
Gnarl was immune to Willow's magical attacks.[2]
As non-humans, Connor and Illyria were also immune to Non's life draining ability.[7]
Others[]
Despite the Judge being able to kill other soulless vampires with human feelings,[11] a soulless Angel was unaffected by the demon's incinerating touch because he had no humanity to burn out.[12] Angel was also immune to Billy's power to induce misogyny in men; he explained that he had given up on any hate a long time before.[13]
The Gem of Amara granted vampires complete immunity to their common weaknesses, such as sunlight and stakes, as long as they wore it until Angel destroyed it.[3][14] Dr. Gregson could also perform a surgical procedure to achieve a similar effect, though it would only last six hours before resulting in the vampire's death[15] unless the organ was replaced with silver.[16]
Adam had a heightened sense of awareness, making him immune to the effects of reality alterations such as from Jonathan's augmentation spell.[17] The insane, considered "outside reality," were also immune to the effects of reality manipulation spells, allowing them to see Dawn' true nature as the Key.[18]
Through the Vampyr book, Matango became immune to magical attacks,[19] a power D'Hoffryn inherited after killing the fellow Magic Council member.[20]
