Eddie Hope was a devil active after the Fall of Los Angeles. He tracked down and punished people who he knew to have committed atrocities during their time in the hell dimension. Among his targets was Chris Peete, who had disfigured a young woman, which in turn drove her twin sister into alcoholism. He went after Charles Gunn for his actions as a vampire, regarding him as equally guilty for his sins as a vampire even with his human status restored, unconcerned about the difference between the soul and the demon inhabiting the corpse. However, before he could shoot Gunn, he was contacted by an unknown individual who claimed to be the person responsible for Eddie finding his targets to date, the conversation- combined with Gunn's subsequent escape attempt- distracting Eddie long enough for Angel and Spike to arrive to assist Gunn.
