―Eddie Hope[src]

Eddie Hope was a devil active after the fall of Los Angeles. He tracked down and punished people who he knew to have committed atrocities during their time in the hell dimension. Among his targets was Chris Peete, who had disfigured a young woman, which in turn drove her twin sister into alcoholism. He went after Charles Gunn for his actions as a vampire, regarding him as equally guilty for his sins as a vampire even with his human status restored, unconcerned about the difference between the soul and the demon inhabiting the corpse. However, before he could shoot Gunn, he was contacted by an unknown individual who claimed to be the person responsible for Eddie finding his targets to date. The conversation, combined with Gunn's subsequent escape attempt, distracted Eddie long enough for Angel and Spike to arrive and assist Gunn.

Eddie Hope Human

Eddie in human form, wielding a gun.

Later, while on the way home from erasing several people from his list of evildoers, Eddie encountered Gwen Raiden being chased by security guards from the Morimoto Corporation in search of their stolen property. Gwen fed Eddie a story about her being a runaway victim of experimentation so that he would fight the guards, distracting them and allowing her to steal his ride and escape.

Eddie later teamed up with Spike to stop the vampire, Tansy Fry, from reinstating the Order of Aurelius and creating a Hellmouth in Los Angeles.
