Ed was the Grand Potentate of the Fell Brethren and a member of the Circle of the Black Thorn. As a symbol of his status, he wore a more ornate version of the jewels worn by his brethren.

He made a deal with Amanda, the Holy Vessel of the Fell Brethren, to heal her husband in exchange for her son, whom Ed would worship and eventually sacrifice. Though a confrontation with Illyria nearly stopped this, Angel saw the deal go through and the baby given to Ed.

Ed later made an appearance alongside the other members of the Circle of the Black Thorn, when Angel seemingly joined their team.

During Angel's plan to cripple the Senior Partners, Ed, along with the rest of the Fell Brethren, was killed by Spike, presumably with a sword.
