Dark Horse Comics is an American comic book publisher which held the publishing license for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1998–2018), and Angel comics (1999–2002, 2011–2018).
Hidden cameos of Hellboy’s title character, the insertion of the Alien’s Xenomorph into the canon lore (In Space No One Can Hear You Slay), and the various covers included in the story No Need to Fear, the Slayer's Here are some notable references to the publishing’s titles in the Buffyverse comics.
Dark Horse has also held the publishing license for other Joss Whedon works like Firefly, Dollhouse, and Dr. Horrible, as well as works by Jane Espenson (Husbands) and Felicia Day (The Guild).
In August 2018, it was announced that 20th Century Fox was taking the license back, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer would have its last publication at Dark Horse, twenty years after the title's debut in comics.[1]
