Cynthia York was a girl living in Los Angeles and, in the reality altered by Skip, a fan of Cordelia Chase.
While her mother was visiting relatives and her father had left the home, she tried to perform a retrieval spell to bring back her father whom had recently left them. She accidentally spilled something on the book she was using and her improvisations caused a demon to appear.
