The brotherhood of seven demons performed a spell that imprisoned the spirit of a victim into an inanimate object. The victim would not be able to undo the curse until they killed all seven demons of the brotherhood.[1]
History[]
One of the seven demons performed the curse to the demon hunter Sid and trapped him inside a dummy. Sid was unable to return to his body for several decades, during which time he tracked and killed all but one of the demons.[1]
By 1997, Sid managed to track the last demon of the brotherhood in Sunnydale. Sid had the help of the Sunnydale High School student Morgan to get around the school, where the last demon attended using the name Marc.[1]
With the help of the Slayer Buffy and her friends from the Scooby Gang, Sid killed the last demon. However, as Sid's body had long since decomposed, Sid died once the curse was lifted.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- In an early draft for "The Puppet Show," Sid described the moment Marc cast the curse: "We're finally face to face in this magic shop. He jumps me; I pump him full of bullets. He's this close to death when he starts jabbering at me like a Catholic priest. Apparently, he thought it'd be cute to curse my soul into the nearest object."[2]
- In the non-canon video game Chaos Bleeds, the First Evil intervened after the curse was broken and trapped Sid's spirit in a duplicate dummy body. Sid aided the Scooby Gang defeat the First, and he was finally set free.
