Biography[edit | edit source]
After Sunnydale's hellmouth was opened, Cordelia offered to enter it along her girlfriend Buffy Summers, the Slayer. Buffy denied it, explaining that the Hellmother would only be able to escape with a vessel, so a vampire like Cordelia should stay away from the demon.
Cordelia understood that Buffy was only finding another way to punish herself for the death of Willow Rosenberg, a theory Rupert Giles supported. Buffy agreed with Cordelia then her embowing the vampire on the stomach and jumping into the open Seal of Danzalthar, saying that this was the only way she could forgive herself and that she shouldn't be followed.
Alone in the hellmouth, Buffy was bitten by the Hellmother and fell unconscious. When she woke up, Agog told Buffy that her world above was then gone, consumed by the Hellmother even though she was never freed.
