Cordelia Chase was an actress who portrayed Detective Kate Lockley on Angel for Hire and used her psychic visions to help her co-star Angel in fighting genuine supernatural evil as part of Angel Investigations.[1]
Biography[]
Cordelia grew up in Sunnydale and attended Sunnydale High School with Andrew Wells and Daniel "Oz" Osbourne.[2] At some point, she began receiving visions of people in danger and moved to Los Angeles, joining Angel Investigations with Andrew, Angel, Fred, Gunn, Spike, Wesley, and Lorne.[1] During their adventures, they traveled to Pylea, where they met the Groosalugg, with whom Cordelia had a brief relationship, and fought the demon Lanugo.[3]
While working for the detective agency, Cordelia became a famous and successful actress through her show Cordi. She eventually convinced Angel to become an actor himself, leading to the two becoming co-stars on Angel for Hire, with Lindsey McDonald as her manager.[1][4]
In 2022 while attending a party, Cordelia had visions of Wesley dying, and she raced to the Hyperion Hotel, arriving in time to see Angel be sucked into a spirit house and Wesley transform into a zombie.[1] It turned out that a demon was contained in the spirit house, which had also miniaturized Angel, and the Angel Investigations team accidentally released the demon while trying to restore Angel to his normal size. Shortly after, Cordelia was shocked to meet Oz, who explained he was a different version of Oz from another reality in which Angelus had killed his friends.[2]
After failing to stop the demon, Cordelia realized it was her old lover Groo, who had been killed in battle and came to hate Champions.[3] With Riley Finn's support, Angel Investigations were able to stop Groo from destroying the world, with Lorne helping to convince him to stand down and return to the spirit house, where Cordelia had added some furniture and awkwardly listened to Groo's attempts to encourage Cordelia to start a relationship with Angel.[5]
Shortly after, Cordelia got into an argument with Angel for how he didn't show up to film an episode for the series, resulting in Angel deciding to quit the show to make a film in Romania.[6] Having seen Spike show some acting talent, Cordelia approached him to replace Angel for a few episodes, but the two were attacked in the filming set by the Spike of another universe.[4] Spike was able to kill his evil counterpart but briefly tried to hurt Cordelia. When the rest of Angel Investigations arrived, they discovered Spike was slowly having his soul drained by Dr. Daedalus, whom Spike had approached for help in saving Wesley.[7]
Together, the group attacked Daedalus's home to threaten him into giving Spike his soul back, but the arrival of Drusilla and Angelus with his vampire army interrupted them.[7] The group managed to escape, with Daedalus coming up with the plan to resurrect the dead Slayer Buffy Summers for backup. Daedalus revealed himself to be a vampire, but Spike arrived in time to kill him and informed the team that Wesley had sacrificed his life to return Spike's soul. Angel and Cordelia took a moment to admit their feelings for each other in a kiss before he fought Angelus. After Angel killed Angelus, Cordelia and the rest of Angel Investigations prepared to fight off what was left of the vampire army.[8]
