Conchata Ferrell was the actress who portrayed Ruth Greenliegh in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series.
Career[]
Ferrell began her career on the stage as a member of the Circle Repertory Company, appearing in the original Broadway cast of Lanford Wilson's The Hot L Baltimore and winning both the Drama Desk and Obie Awards for the off-Broadway The Sea Horse.
A successful character actress, her career has spanned four decades and includes supporting roles in such films as Network, Mystic Pizza, Edward Scissorhands, Erin Brockovich, Crime and Punishment in Suburbia, Mr. Deeds, K-PAX, as well as a small part in True Romance.
In addition to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, her other television credits include Hot L Baltimore, Good Times, B.J. and the Bear, E/R, Night Court, A Peaceable Kingdom, L.A. Law, Hearts Afire, Townies, Teen Angel, Push, Nevada, The Ranch, among many others. Ferrell is best known for playing Berta the housekeeper in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, for which she received two Emmy Award nominations in 2005 and 2007.
Ferrell died on October 13, 2020, from complications following a cardiac arrest. She was 77 years old.[1]
