This unidentified man was a spectator of the battle between Whistler, Pearl and Nash on one side and Faith, Nadira and Angel on the other.
When Giles caused Nash to drop the plague ball that Whistler had created by hitting him with a fireball, the ball fell down and split apart, snowing down on the people of Hackney below. It caused him to lose his legs, replaced by a caterpillar trunk.
